Wheeler Clinic's YES! Program is an innovative intervention
program for juvenile offenders. The program addresses the psychological
and social
factors that place adolescents at risk for returning to the juvenile
justice system, youth referred by probation and Families With Service
Needs, providing services that aid clients and their families in learning
new skills and
behaviors.
These evidence-based interventions help clients:
- develop healthy social skills
- reduce anger and aggression
- learn problem solving and coping skills
- avoid alcohol and drugs
- improve relationships with family members
The program's mission is to provide a safe and culturally competent environment which fosters strong, respectful relationships. We are committed to empowering families to reach their full potential through a collaborative strength-based partnership.
The interventions used by Wheeler Clinic's YES! Program
are leading-edge, outcome-based therapeutic models used throughout the United
States.
They include:
- Aggression Replacement Therapy (ART) - an intensive, 10-week psycho-educational intervention program for 10-15 year old boys. The program is designed to reduce aggressive and anti-social behaviors and develop skills such as anger control and moral reasoning.
- Voices - a strength-based intervention for girls ages 10-15 that focuses on the whole girl - emotional, intellectual, and physical. Girls focus on attachment, resilience, self-care and coping.
- Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)/Family Support Network (FSN) combine in this substance abuse program for boys and girls 10-15. MET/CBT/FSN works to motivate, teach new skills and involve the family to help clients overcome addictive behaviors.
- Brief Strategic Family Therapy - a family-focused intervention program for girls and boys ages 6-15 that treats disruptive behavior problems, substance abuse, violence and other issues. Through home-based sessions, the therapist creates an individualized plan to help parents regain authority and improve how the family relates to one another.
