Virtual Course Starts January 29 for Individuals Interested in Foster Care

Wheeler is offering an inspiring virtual training, TIPS-MAPP, Trauma-Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence - Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting, starting January 29, 2024, to prepare prospective foster parents and families for the role of fostering a child or youth in Waterbury and surrounding towns.

TIPS-MAPP is delivered via Zoom by Wheeler’s dedicated, caring team of specialists, social workers, and clinicians who work closely with foster families from the start and continue as supportive teammates throughout the fostering process.

This virtual course on Zoom will be offered for five consecutive Mondays from January 29 through February 26.

Pre-registration is required by January 22, 2024.

The program is open to prospective parents from all walks of life in Waterbury and surrounding communities. Participants can be married, single, or part of a domestic partnership. They can own or rent their homes. Parenting experience is a plus but not required. Individuals who attend this course are under no obligation to become licensed foster parents.
